What is inside

Coconut husk fibre in three grades, bound with natural latex and set with heat.

The fibre

Three grades of rubberised coir

  • A hand pressing a block of support fibre, rubberised coconut coir

    Support fibre

Low elasticity. 80% firmness, the firmest grade.

  • A hand pressing a block of hybrid fibre, rubberised coconut coir

    Hybrid fibre

    Moderate elasticity. 70% firmness.

  • A hand pressing a block of resilient fibre, rubberised coconut coir

    Resilient fibre

High elasticity. 60% firmness, the softest grade.

The fibre and latex combination sets how soft and elastic the core feels. On the Fibrelux mattress scale a higher number means firmer; dual comfort models have a rating for each side.

Twisted coir

Twisted coir fibre

  • Stronger
  • Longer
  • Cleaner
  • More resilient
  • Better self-ventilating and moisture regulating

Straight coir fibre

  • Softer, less strength
  • Shorter
  • Contains more dust
  • Less resilient
  • Less self-ventilating and moisture regulating

Natural latex

  • 100% natural latex, compounded: more resilience, and non-toxic.
  • A layer of latex laminates the coir fibre to make it last longer.
  • The latex adhesive is treated with Ultra-Fresh, an antimicrobial agent Fibrelux says is approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, against bacteria and fungi.
  • Every core is steam sterilised at more than 100°C during production.
  • Formaldehyde free since 2012.

Other materials

Acti-Bon (Fibrelux)

Fibrelux says its black Acti-Bon fibre blocks electromagnetic waves, neutralises odours, regulates the humidity in your bed and emits negative ions.

Far infrared (Fibrelux)

Fibrelux says its Nanobionic cover turns body heat into far infrared rays and reflects them back to the body, and lists six benefits: improves blood circulation, boosts the immune system and metabolism, reduces the body's free radicals (positive ions), relieves muscle aches, relieves fatigue and stress, and improves quality of sleep.

Kenaf, a natural plant fibre, has been part of the range since 2015. Some covers are treated with HeiQ Adaptive, a Swiss technology for dynamic cooling.
